What Is High-Speed Internet?

High-speed Internet, also known as “broadband”, gives you a fast connection to the Internet compared to slow regular analog (commonly referred to as “dial-up”) modems that connect through your phone lines.

  • A high-speed Internet connection is “always on”, meaning you don’t have to wait to connect
  • For a flat monthly subscription fee, get online anytime without tying up your phone line or incurring additional costs
  • High-speed Internet connections are provided by an Internet Service Provider (ISP).
