What are ISPs?

Internet Service Providers (ISPs) are the companies that provide you with access to the Internet. You need to pay these companies for their services as they provide all the equipment and have telecommunication lines to provide you with Internet access. ISPs can be your telephone company (DSL Broadband Access and/or Fiber-to-the-Home) or your cable TV company (Cable Broadband Access) or some other independent service provider.

Some of the popular ISPs that you have probably heard of are:
Time Warner Cable
SBC
Verizon
AT&T
MSN
EarthLink
America Online (AOL) Broadband

Each ISP offers different Internet service packages to match your needs.
